Carrousel de tête – Experimental wines from the heart of the Palatinate
Carrousel de tête isn't a typical wine brand—and that's precisely the point. Founded in 2019 out of curiosity, creativity, and a shared love of good wine, it's a semi-professional wine project in the vibrant Palatinate region, where Riesling flows as freely as good ideas.
There was no business plan. No grand vision. Just a spontaneous "yes" to an unexpected opportunity: a tiny, 0.12-hectare vineyard with 40-year-old Silvaner vines, tucked away in a long-forgotten corner of a family business. What followed was a mixture of friendly collaboration, bold improvisation, and—at least initially—more experience in drinking than in making wine.
By day, the founders run a small design studio focusing on branding and typography. In the evenings (and on weekends), they spend their time in the vineyard, surrounded by fellow winemakers.innen, KöchCooks and wine merchants are Carrousel de tête grown entirely organically – just like their wines: with little intervention, spontaneous fermentation and a willingness to embrace the unpredictable beauty of each vintage.
Since 2020, the project has grown a bit and now encompasses a few family-owned plots in Deidesheim and Meckenheim – a total of just under 0.4 hectares. That's a small area. And just right. Enough space to experiment, stay close to the process, and give the wines the freedom to express their own character.
Carrousel de tête is not a brand. It's a creative playground, a taste laboratory, and a homage to organic microproduction – located in the heart of one of Germany's most exciting wine regions.
